The House of Boutis
Boutis embroidery has been classified as part of France's intangible cultural heritage since 2019.
The Musée de Calvisson offers a unique collection of boutis from the 18th and 19th centuries. Boutis is a quilting and embroidery technique used to make clothing and household linen. The assembly of two pieces of fabric embellished with small-stitch embroidery will be "emboutied" (trimmed) with cotton wicks. Dedicated to the happy events of life, these are above all highly symbolic motifs that are embroidered.
Come and discover these exceptional works.
Guided group tours are also available on reservation (max. 15 people).
