Workshop: Making your own cold process soap
Are you a soap lover? Do you enjoy making things with your hands? Come and discover the secrets of soap-making with this fun and creative workshop, suitable for ages 15 and over. Whether you come alone, with friends, as a couple or with your family, you’ll get to make your own cold-process soap.
Welcome to the magical world of Elsa’s artisanal soap-making!
You’ll receive a warm welcome at the workshop-boutique of Elsa, the formulator at Savonnerie de la Castelle in the historic centre of Lunel. During the welcome session, the hostess will begin by telling you the fascinating history of soap. You’ll discover the different types of soap – from industrial soap to Marseille soap, including cold-process soap – as well as the raw materials that go into them. You’ll be captivated by the chemical processes involved, whilst learning about the risks and safety measures involved in soap-making.
Once the basics have been covered, it’s your turn to get stuck in! Discover the natural ingredients that make up soap, weigh, melt, mix...
You can even personalise your soap recipe by choosing natural fragrances to scent your soap, and colours using the clays or plants of your choice.
Then, you’ll pour the soap into the mould of your choice; you’ll be amazed to see how the ingredients transform into a unique and beautiful bar of soap.
Your soap will need to cure for about a month before it’s ready to use. You can choose to come and collect it later or have it delivered directly to your home for an additional fee. Finally, you’ll leave with a recipe so you can recreate the experience at home.
You’ll be eager to collect your unique, personalised soap, ready to enjoy its benefits. Rest assured, you’ll never look at soap in the same way again!
Please wear suitable clothing for your safety: no bare skin. You should also wear closed-toe shoes, socks, long sleeves and trousers, as well as a hair tie. You may also wish to bring an apron to protect your clothes. Please inform the soap maker in advance if you have any intolerances or allergies.
This workshop can be booked exclusively for your private or professional events: hen parties, seminars, etc. Contact Elsa to discuss this.
