Rando La Clotte

Mills, fords and wells punctuate this walk along the Vidourle, illustrating the importance of water and its use.

Itinerary :
From Fontanès, at the Foyer parking lot, follow signs for Chemin de Lecques (or rue du Micocoulier), then Château de Pondres.
From this crossroads, follow La Tourille, L'Aigalade and Le Moulin de Pattes.
Then take La Clotte and La Maurine.
Return to Fontanès via Chemin de Lecques.

SIGHTSEEING

- The Pattes mill, an ancient fortified seigniorial mill.

GOOD TO KNOW :
There are many water mills along the Vidourle. In the Middle Ages, the use of water power became widespread, and bladier mills (cereal mills), oil mills and fulling mills (for finishing woollen cloth using water power to drive stone millstones) replaced human or animal power.
