The Lens Wood

Walk in the footsteps of our ancestors through a landscape that has remained wild, a silent witness to human settlement since the dawn of time.

Itinerary :
From Cespian Quartier de Vielle, follow signs for La Nouvelle, then Chemin de Boucoiran and Les Quatre Chemins.
From there, follow the Col du Plan des Masques and return to Crespian via Le Puech and Chemin des Lens.

SIGHTSEEING
- The 12th-century Romanesque church in the Vielle district.
- The old lime kiln where limestone was transformed into lime.
- The Bois des Lens, a forest massif and ecological reserve.

WORTH KNOWING:
The Bois des Lens is made up of several hills where torrents rise that are dry most of the year, but can be very devastating during powerful storms. This forest massif dominates the landscape and is an ecological reserve with a fragile balance, where rare and varied fauna (circaète Jean le Blanc, genet....) and flora (fraxinelle...) live side by side. Known for its paleontological, archaeological and historical remains, the Bois des Lens is a sensitive area.
